Madagascar Escape 2 Africa is a classic Dream Works video game released after the success of the original game and movie. Kids will be very familiar with the characters if they have seen either movie or played the first video game release. The game-play is similar to its predecessor with a slightly different storyline and game location.

Of course, anything released by Dream Works will have mass appeal, but this game is intended for kids. As such, parents need to be aware of a tiny bit of violence that takes place during the game. The most notable issue would be the spitting of candy at humans in order to knock them down. If parents can get by that, this is an excellent game for the little ones. The graphics are very clean with first class animation.

The four main characters (Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo) are back for more fun and adventure. As the game's title indicates, the game takes place in Africa where the four characters will make their way through 12 different levels. In addition to the regular levels, the game also includes several fun mini-games to keep the kids on their toes. Each level and mini-game will test the skills of gamers and their ability to discover and make use of the unique combat capabilities of each character. The ability of the characters to jump, punch, run and kick their way through levels like the Hippo Mud Pit and the Watering Hole are the same as they were in the original game.

Most game controllers will be adaptable for use on this game. The controls for each character function are easy to pick up. The game is also compatible with most versions of Microsoft's operating system. Overall, the game will not appeal to gamers who are used to non-stop and strategy driven games. Fans of the Madagascar franchise will be the target market for this particular game.

  • Multi-player Mode - This version of the game has made improvements to the multi-player mode offered in the first game. In multi-player mode, friends and family to face-off in friendly head-to-head competition or tournaments.
  • Easy to Use - They main appeal for kids will be the simplicity of the game. The controls are easy to use and the non-linear layout of the 12 levels is easy to navigate.
  • Graphics - The quality of the graphics are quite comparable to the animation found in the movie. All of the characters look the same making it easy for kids to recognize and root for their favorite characters

  • Intended Audience - The game will not offer much in the way of appeal or challenge to experienced gamers and adults.
